It is pretty unanimous that the new roof on my house needs to be charcoal. I was hesitant to choose that color because it won't last as long as a lighter roof, but after talking to several professionals I have learned that as long as we have good ventilation, the charcoal roof will be fine. Wow, that was really hard. I think I spent at least a month debating that one.
Now I am thinking about door colors. The front door has to be painted since we are installing a new door knob that has different hole locations. We have had to fill in the old holes and now the door looks really bad and needs a paint job.
What color would look best on my red brick house soon to have a charcoal roof?
I really like this dark blue door.
In feng shui, blue doors represent water, abundance and loyalty.
Black represents power, elegance, formality, and mystery.
Yellow represents mental clarity, wisdom, confidence, happiness, understanding.
Or should I stick with the red that it is now and just give it a fresh new coat?
Does a red door go with a redish-rust colored brick?
Red doors say, "welcome."
According to feng shui my south facing door should be red, pink or purple. I just want to choose a color that will look best with the brick. Leave me a comment or vote on my new door poll.

Thanks to everyone who has commented on the roof colors and voted on the poll. It looks like most of you think charcoal looks best with weathered wood coming in a close second. I think I am going to leave the white siding and trim as-is since it is maintenance free without paint on it. I like the charcoal roof, but am worried about the heat factor and am leaning toward weathered wood. I am even considering solar shingles (Click HERE for a video by Consumer Reports about solar shingles). I am still not sure about the door color either. Jessie from Cupcakes and Craziness suggested a navy door and I am really liking that idea.
Normally I know what I want and don't think twice, but when I have to live with it for 30 years I suddenly become super indecisive. Keep the suggestions coming! I love all of the different ideas. I would have never thought of the navy door on my own; Thanks Jessie!

This is my dream home that we just bought a couple of months ago. It needs a new roof right away since the original shake has moss, is curled, and falling off. We are going to use architectural shingles since they are much cheaper than shake. I used a roofing website to see what the different colors would look like, but I am still undecided. I am also thinking of painting the red door black. I love red doors, but does a red door with orange/red brick look good? Should I paint the white garage door and white trim and aluminum siding? Does the white trim and siding look good? I would love any opinions! Especially since I am going to be stuck with this new roof for the next 30 years.
Original Shake Roof
Barkwood
Charcoal
Hickory

Just leave a comment below with the name of the roof color you like best (The name of the color is below each photo).
