Affordable Essential Oils and Diffusers

Monday, June 15, 2015

Get a diffuser and essential oils for up to 75% off the price of doTerra and Young Living products.

After scouring the internet and reading tons of reviews about diffusers, I decided to buy a SmileyDaisy.
I asked them if they would send me a diffuser in exchange for a review and they agreed (I would have bought one anyway because I fell in love with the red one and their prices are affordable).

Disclosure: This is not a paid product review, but I did get the product for free. I am not an affiliate and don't make any money from selling these products.

Aromatherapy Essential Oil Diffuser, Love in a Mist

The cost is affordable at $69.47, use code SMILEY10 to get 10% off, making the price $62.52.
I love the look of this diffuser. I scoured the internet for an attractive diffuser and this is by far my favorite one out there. Some of the diffusers I found look alien and cheap, but the "Love in a Mist" is very classy looking and it coordinates with my home decor.

Here is what I learned about diffusers from research and use of the "Love in a Mist" by SmileyDaisy:

Bigger isn't Better:
After reading hundreds of reviews, I learned that the bigger diffusers that run longer on one tank of water are a waste of money. The oil sits on top of the water and once it is gone, most of the aroma is also gone. That bigger tank may run all day without adding water, but you will have to add more oil. Love in a Mist's small tank capacity of 100 ml is more than enough for me. I don't ever feel like I need to add more oil before all the water is gone.

Intermittent Mist Control:
If you want your diffuser to run a long time, a better option is to get one with intermittent mist control. The "Love in a Mist" from SmileyDaisy has an intermittent mist setting of 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off. This will make the oil last longer if you are using it while you sleep or just want it to last longer during the day. The "Love in a Mist" diffuser runs for 4 continuous hours or 7 intermittent.

Placement:
I have been using my diffuser for a couple of weeks and have had it in almost every room testing it out. "Love in a Mist" has about a 150 square ft range which is pretty average for most diffusers. It works really well in my office and bedrooms. I tried it in my Great Room and could only smell it if I was within a few feet, but it did create a light aroma throughout the huge space. It works great in my entry which is very open. The aroma made its way all the way up the stairs when I placed the diffuser on my entry table.

Diffuser vs Humidifier:
I would have had this review written a week sooner if my 8 year old hadn't gotten a stuffy nose the same week I got my diffuser. Instead of using a humidifier in his room, I tried the diffuser with the Juju Aroma Eucalyptus oil. The Vicks warm mist humidifier that I have always used for my son when he is sick, doesn't allow anything but water in the tank. There is a place in the top to put some Vicks solution, but that is always messy and never disperses well. I placed the "Love in a Mist" diffuser next to his bed and added 5 drops of the Eucalyptus oil. It started pumping out the mist and gave my son immediate relief. It even has the option of turning the LED light off which some diffusers don't allow. He insisted on using the diffuser every night for a week and didn't get up in the middle of the night like he usually does with a cold.

Health Benefits:
I know that people who sell doTerra and Young Living claim many health benefits. They have a lot to profit from these statements, so I think they tend to exaggerate. I know that an oil diffuser is much healthier than scented candles and chemical laden air fresheners. That alone makes buying one worth it to me. I found a Thieves Oil recipe online and tried it since most of the oils used are supposed to help fight candida, which I am always struggling with. I don't think essential oils are a cure-all, but I figure it doesn't hurt to try and they smell great. My daughter came home and said it smelled like Christmas. I have not noticed any immediate health benefits other than feeling more relaxed, but the house smells good and I rest easy knowing I'm not putting dangerous chemicals in the air.

Mosquito bites
My daughter is allergic to mosquitos and got a bite that swelled to a golfball size when we were at a family picnic in the mountains last week. I read that lavender oil can help with the itch, so she tried a dab of the Juju Aroma Lavender essential oil and it worked. The effects were short lived and she had to reapply frequently, but it did help. I also put 5-10 drops of Lavender oil in my 8 year old son's bath water since he got all scratched up running around in the mountains. The lavender soothed his cuts and he said he felt better. I've read that Tea Tree oil is also helpful for mosquito bites.

These oils are not edible and should be used for aromatherapy or externally.

Rosemary: Diffuse to help calm tension and fight fatigue. It can also stimulate memory and has antioxidant properties.
Eucalyptus: Diffuse to help with chest congestion and sinus infections. Add 5-10 drops in a bath to help arthritis, pain relief, and boost immune system.
Tea Tree: Helps acne, nail fungus, insect repellent, athletes foot, ticks, mosquito bites, mold killer, dandruff, and much more.
Peppermint: Use in a diffuser to help headaches, nausea, and congestion.
Sweet Orange: Great for household cleaning recipes, bath products and lotions. Diffuse to help relax and stay focused.
Lavender: Use in lotions, bath products and for mosquito bites. Diffuse for calm, balance, and relaxation.

Now that I have had a diffuser for a couple of weeks, I need a couple more. I'm keeping the "Love in a Mist" diffuser in my bedroom and need one for the entry, and one for the kids when they get sick. The "Love in a Mist" that SmileyDaisy sent me to review has all of the bells and whistles which is great, but also makes the price go up. I love it for my bedroom, but don't think my kids will appreciate the extra stuff as much as I do. I'm going to get the "Daisy" for my kids. It's only $35.54 with the 10% off code SMILEY10.

You can find SmileyDaisy diffusers and Juju Aroma Essential Oils on Amazon.
