33rd Penny Pinching Party

Every week there is always one post that really stands out in my mind and I usually end up incorporating it in my life somehow. That is what I love about these Penny Pinching Parties; I am becoming a better person every week!

Last week there were a ton of great posts, but the one I have been thinking the most about is Home and Heart's Organic Priorities. For those of us who want to eat healthy organic food, but can't afford to buy all of our food organic, she tells us which produce has the highest pesticide levels and which food has the lowest. I knew a few of the foods on her list like kale (I always buy that organic), but learned about some new ones. I always thought that carrots were safe since they were under ground, but I was wrong. Go check her blog out to see what food is worth spending the extra money on to get organic and which isn't.

Natural Bug Killer Giveaway

Summer is just about here which means the bugs are too. I usually spray the outside of my house with whatever bug killer I find at the hardware store. I always worry about my kids playing outside after doing this, but have never found a better alternative.

I have decided that I don't want chemicals around my house anymore after 2 little girls here in Utah died from pesticide poisoning used around their house. You can see the tragic story here (The 15 month old died soon after her 4 yr. old sister).

I have recently learned about an organic home pest control company called EcoSMART. They make natural insect repellent and have products that are both kid friendly and non-toxic. I was thrilled when they sent me some of their products and offered to do a giveaway for my readers. I have some pesky ants marching around the front door of my house and I am thrilled that I haven't seen them since I got my EcoSMART products. The front door sees a lot of traffic and I am relieved and happy that my kids can go in and out without fear of harmful pesticides.

The post that stood out the most to me was by MarytheKaytheBlog with her Paint your own toes TRICK. This post was the funniest thing I have read all week. She had the most visits out of all the links last week, so you must have all felt the same. I love all of her tips and her great sense of humor. I also love that she took a picture of her trick.
